All about me & All about the weather
After a relaxing summer break, Primrose class was back in full swing. We were imitating and singing 'This is the way we clap our hands' in Music and Drama class. We were also producing sounds with body percussion, such as taping, clapping, and stamping. In SESE, Geography, we observed and discussed a variety of weather using simple terminology. We also used a weather chart to keep track of the weather. This is where we attend to our routines throughout the school day in History. In Science, we learned to identify and name parts of the female/male body by finding missing body parts on an image using sign/verbal communication.
We also discussed the distinction between hot and cold, noting that it is warm when the sun shines and chilly when the wind blows. We produced an all about me booklet in SHPE, which included our name, hair colour, birthdate, and fingerprints. We also considered what we enjoy and dislike about food, as well as our favourite animal. In Art, we learned about the colour blue and created a collage using various blue things. We also created fingerprint rain clouds to demonstrate how much rain is falling and what colour rain is. We also made the sun out of yellow crepe paper. To complete our September painting, we drew rainbows that appear after rain and as the sun begins to shine.
This month's Phonics sounds were 'S' and 'A'. We have begun our handwriting without tears, and it is doing really well. We also put in great work at the teachers' table, workstations, and task boxes. Some Primrose students have also begun their 'TTRS' (Touch, Type, Read, Spell) programme, which is going extremely well. Kerry, our PE teacher, had us complete a variety of exciting games that we all enjoyed. We also got to go to Erica's fairy forest, which was a lot of fun. We dined at McDonald's and visited Dealz in Monaghan. We had a fantastic social experience. We have a really nice sensory garden here at school, and we were given the opportunity to smell all of the lovely scents of the flowers in our garden.
