March / April in Aspen Class
March and April were amazing months in Aspen class.
We began our farm to table series where we focused on where we get the food we eat. Trips to Gerry Trainers butchers in Monaghan, local produce sellers, and grocery stores to have our own BBQ on a ‘Grill it Thursday’. We learned how mince burger meat is made, grew our own lettuce, onions, and potatoes, and lit the grill for some hands on grilling skills.
We supported two of our very own Aspen classmates in the football blitz where they took Top prize!
We were visited With Paralympic gold medallist Casey Fitzgerald, country singer Brendan Shine, and Aaron an Stevie McKenna the famous Boxers out of Monaghan for Active Schools week.
Head Pro Bobby Fallon and the gang at Concra Wood golf course in Castleblaney were incredible to our class. Bobby helped teach them a lesson on hitting the ball at their driving range and treating us to a fantastic meal at the view restaurant. They awarded our guys with certificates, water bottles, treats and even Ice Cream after our meal on the house.
They couldn’t have been more welcoming, gracious, and kind with our visit. It’s not all academics in Aspen class as we get out as much as possible, especially with the weather getting better to work on our social and living in our community skills. Thank you Bobby and the staff at Concra Wood!
let’s continue having a fantastic year in our Senior Aspen class!
