50th Anniversary Mural

25th Sep 2024

Over the past three weeks, Fermanagh artist, Kevin McHugh, painted the most beautiful woodland mural to mark our school’s 50th anniversary.

The mural was thoughtfully designed to reflect our wonderful school and pupils.

The underground part of the woodland scene represents family and community, which we value so much here in Holy Family School.

The owl represents the staff, giving the little birds, our pupils, the skills they need to fly on their own.

The heart shaped clouds represent the love which permeates our school.

The flowers are “ forget-me-nots”, which represent our pupils and staff who have passed away and will never be forgotten.

The roots of the tree are entwined with the rabbit burrow and the foxes den to show that our school’s influence goes beyond its walls and into our pupils homes.

“Planted in 1973” represents the year our school opened in Cootehill.

Thank you so much Kevin. We are so proud of our mural and all it represents.
